I started making this cornbread as a side dish to complement my chili recipe. It’s a slightly sweet, moist, light cornbread, and it’s so easy to make. Try it and let me know how you like it.

 

 

 

 

 

Quick and Easy Cornbread

This cornbread recipe is simple to make, and tastes heavenly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow corn meal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter or shortening softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Add all dry ingredients to a mixing bowl. Add egg, milk and shortening to dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2 baking pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes or until a knife inserted at the center comes out clean.
